Happiness Is A Book Away

One day as I did my usually boredom searching on modcloth.com and sat dreaming of the dress I wanted so badly, I came across this book. I almost bought it then, and when I saw it again on Amazon for only twelve dollars I just had to. So I bought this book and waited the two days to get it. Some of the longest two days of my life! When it arrived I tore open the package and began to dive into the vintage world of fashion. This book was amazing! It was detailed, energetic, realistic, and really makes sure by the time you turn that last page you will know everything you ever needed to know about vintage fashion. It covers everything, from sizing your clothes to the history of clothing styles to knowing what tags came from what time.

If you are into vintage clothes, and you have always found an interest in them, I totally think you should pick this book up. First of all, it's cheap, and second of all, its little enough to fit into your bag when your vintage shopping.

I know, I sound like a boring book reviewer who is forced to write about a book to get paid, but honestly, this book is so cute and incredible. I just had to tell you guys!

Mountain Thrift Store Finds

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

First of all guys, sorry for being uber-slow on the blog posts. We've been busy going to lots of Lincoln's baseball games every day that I haven't had the time. But don't worry, I'll try and post them more often now.

When we went to Lake Arrowhead, we stopped at this great, small mountain thrift store. Sure, it wasn't the most magnificent thrift store around, but it was filled with good stuff. Considering I only spent about two minutes in there, I was able to find these two steals pretty quickly.

These are some adorable red heels I found for only three dollars! It was even more exciting when I realized they were in my size. Aren't they too cute and classy?

I also found this simple lavender button down shirt. It wasn't much of anything unordinary, but I needed a nice button down, and I just loved the color. Plus it was on a sale for two dollars, even for a thrift store that's a great price. Sorry for such terrible pictures, I wasn't having the best of luck finding good spots to take them.

Tomorrow I should be getting this great book I ordered. It's sort of a little guide to vintage shopping and I'm definitely excited to get it! Once I get to read it I will show you guys just what it's all about. : )

Adventures At Lake Arrowhead

Friday, June 18, 2010

This tuesday we made our way up to Lake Arrowhead, and of course, along the way we got our twenty foot long RV lost, overheated the transmission, and had to have help to get the RV backed into the camp spot, but despite all that. we made it, and had a great time getting there.

Roscoe kept us laughing with my sunglasses and Lincolns hat. Doesn't he look like a John Lennon inspired pimp? At least, thats the look we were going for. : )

Once we got settled, Lincoln and I went on a nature trail and got a bit of exercise.

And every night we ate lots and LOTS of S'mores by the campfire.

And Lincoln took over the camera and got a picture of me with a flower in my hair on our way into town. Not a great picture, but it'll do. : ) We had a great time and I even got a bit of a tan. It was surely an adventure to remember. And I even got some things from a great mountain thrift store. But you'll just have to wait and see about those in another blog post, now won't you?

Plane Rides and My First Adventure

Saturday I got up at a way too early time of four o'clock, got to the airport and got on a plane to California! I'm going to be staying with my grandma, uncle, aunt, and my cousin, Lil Lincoln, for three weeks. But "staying" may not be the best word to use, because we will be going to all kinds of wondrous places while I'm here. Then after that my grandma, Roscoe (the most awesome dog you will most definitely get to know) and I will be traveling cross country, from California back to Virginia, and visiting all kinds of natural wonders, museums, and of course, lots of thrift stores. :)

I started this blog to record everything I see, take pictures, and show everyone how wonderful this trip is. Tomorrow we will be going to Lake Arrowhead, a wonderful campsite in San Bernardino, California, just about an hour from here. I'll fill you in tomorrow with lots of pictures, thoughts, and words. For now, thanks for reading my corny little into post.
